ORAL QUESTIONS

   1. What are the tenets of Taekwondo?

  • Courtesy (Yae-Yi) is to be polite and show respect, especially to parents, elders, and teachers, sir!

  • Integrity (Yom-chi) is to have the ability to distinguish right from wrong and have the conscience to feel guilt, sir!

  • Self-Control (Geuk-ki) is to never let emotion or negative thoughts control your words or actions, sir! 

  • Perseverance (In-Nae) is to never give up, and achieve the goal regardless of the difficulty, sir!

  • Indomitable Spirit (Bool-Gul-Yi-Jung-Shin) is to have courage no matter how difficult is the challenge, sir!

  • Victory (Seung-Ri)- means to win, but not necessarily over another person. One can achieve victory by conquering one's own inabilities, sir! 

   2. What are the important points to remember when performing a poomsae?

  • All stances must be accurate and consistent.

  • All poomsae begin and end on the same spot.

  • Stances and the first hand movement finish at the same time.

  • All kicks are to be executed toward the head, unless another target is defined.

  • Kicks must include: a chamber, full extension, and retraction, and proper rotation of the body and supporting foot.

  • Both hands twist and pull together at the same time, but in the opposite direction.

  • Hands move toward the target in a straight line.

  • Each block or punch must be delivered using the power of the waist.

  • Use accurate distance and explosive impact power.

A black tape is required to register. Registration can only be done online and is due by Wednesday before the test.
